Happy 250th Birthday America!
We, at The Farmstead at Medford, are honored to have recently become a part of our awe-inspiring nation’s illustrious 250 year history.
Within the past 250 years, we have seen breakthroughs that know no bounds. At its very apex, we protected our liberties and witnessed the birth of our nation. We’ve won wars, lived through and cured disease and America continues to invent, astound and uncover ways to improve our everyday lives. From electricity and the lightbulb, to the telegraph and rotary telephones…from steel, to steam engines, to the automobile, the rise of the computer and its software brethren, the Internet and phones that are smart, American innovation has shaped the world we know today.
Now there is space exploration and AI. Phonographs have morphed into earbuds. We’ve gone from maps to GPS. We pasteurize, motorize, televise and we can simply press a few keys to pay bills or converse face-to-face with our grandchildren who live hundreds of miles away. Cars drive themselves, drones deliver pizza and we can build things simply by printing. We are stronger, faster and healthier than ever before. Watches can monitor our health, we can replace our broken hearts, edit our genes, receive a robot-generated medical diagnosis and use genetic data to prevent future illness.
Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of Our Nation
What better place to celebrate the 250th birthday of our nation than Philadelphia, the “Birthplace of America”? The first quarters of the Continental Congress of the United States, where our Founding Fathers drafted and signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, Philadelphia is also the location where our constitution was adopted and home to the Liberty Bell. Just a small sampling of plans for celebration in Philadelphia includes fireworks, live musical performances, tours, a parade of ships along the Delaware River and a breathtaking Blue Angels flyover.
We, at The Farmstead at Medford, are honored to have recently become a part of our awe-inspiring nation’s illustrious 250 year history. The Farmstead, Medford’s newest and premier Independent Living community, is located just a convenient drive from the historic city of Philadelphia – offering easy access to all its celebratory semiquincentennial splendor.
